In 1988, I graduated from South Panola High School. I hold a Bachelor of
Science degree with a major in Biology, a Masters degree in Curriculum &
Instruction, and a Masters degree in Administration. This duration of this
school year will be my 11th year teaching. In the past, I have taught 5th and
8th grade science, and Biology I and II levels 9-12. I have one child and her
name is JaPaurian Marie. She is the joy of my life. I look forward to working
with you and your child this year. I am elated to have your child in my
classroom.
As an educator, it is essential that I create an environment in which all
students are active participants in the learning process. Recognizing that
students learn in a variety of ways (oral, visual, auditory, kinesthetic,
etc.), I attempt to engage their learning at the experimental stage. My
teaching philosophy is based on the following components: (1)teaching as a
facilitator, (2) creating an environment that is full of various learning
styles, (3) having students to use their minds to challenge their learning,
and (4) empowering students to work together during group activities. As a
result of my philosophy, I expect all of my students to become active
learners by taking the lead, asking questions, increasing social skills,
avoiding conflict, respecting others, and preparing to get a valid
education.
