About The Teacher

Hello everyone. Let me take a few minutes to tell you about myself.

My family moved to Batesville when I was 14 years old. I began 10th grade
at South Panola High School and graduated from there in 1978. At that time,
our present building was the high school! The building didn't have the 6th
grade wing at all and believe it or not.....we didn't have computers!!! I
learned to type on an electric typewriter. There were still a few manual
typewriters in the class but I was lucky enough not to have to use it. We
did have some form of correction tape to fix mistakes but no white out at
all! If you made a mistake that was more than a letter or two...you just
had to type the whole document over again!

After high school I attended Northwest Junior College. I transferred to
Mississippi University for Women and completed my BS degree in 1982.
(Again..no computers!) In 2000, I completed my master's degree in
Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Mississippi. I became IC3
certified in August 2006.

My first teaching job was at Batesville Elementary School. This year is my
30th year to teach. I have taught remedial English, remedial Math, self-
contained 3rd grade, Computer Discovery, and now Information and
Communication Technology. I have been with the South Panola School District
my entire career.

I am the mother of two sons and the proud grandmother of one. In my spare
time I enjoy working with the plants in my greenhouse, researching my family
history, which is called genealogy, and taking photos of tombstones. (Don't
let that last one give you the willies or anything. It is part of
genealogical research and is a way of preserving history.)At the present time
I have over 20,000 people in my database that are related to my family. I am
also a member of a website called Find A Grave. People contribute
information about cemeteries and those buried there. On this site, I have
posted about 10,000 cemetery photos. It is used to help researchers from all
over the world who would not otherwise be able to visit the cemtery to
collect data about their loved ones. Visit it sometime. You might even find
your family listed.
