The BJHS Peer Counselor Requirements include (but are not limited to):
1. Positive interactions among peers, faculty, and staff
2. A minimum GPA of 2.5
3. A completed application
4. Recommendation from teachers
Peer counselors are available to help their peers with various
problems they are facing in their lives. Some of the situations they help
with include:
- issues with friends
- concerns with family
- grief over the loss of a loved one
- school-related stress
Our Peer Counselors receive training to guide them in this endeavor.
Listening is a very important characteristic they must possess, but also
knowing when the problem needs the attention of a school counselor is vital.
In that case, the Peer Counselors will refer the student to our counselors.
The BJHS Peer Counselors are not only active at school, but also in the
community. We host several projects and fundraisers in and out of school.
We attend Teens on the Move each spring. This year, you will have to earn
points to attend this Field Trip:
- attending meetings
- turning in your Peer Logs
- maintaining GPA's
- attending functions
- being active with fundraisers and projects
