If your child chooses to misbehave, he/she will be required to write the paragraph below the indicated number of times. This will be in addition to assigned homework.
Behavior Paragraph:
I, fill in your first and last name, realize that Ms. Middleton has repeatedly asked me to stop my disruptive behavior, and it is for this reason that I gladly write this paragraph. I know that it is impolite to disrupt class, and I sincerely apologize to Ms. Middleton and my classmates. I also realize that by being disruptive and causing confusion in class, I not only cheat my peers – I cheat myself as well. I never want to deprive anyone, including myself, of the joy of learning. I fully understand the importance of learning and promise never to be the one who impedes the learning process by being disruptive.
Depending on the situation, the student will also define words related to the guideline he/she chose not to follow (respect, disruptive, cheating, education, character, responsibility, behavior, etiquette, etc)
Testing
During testing the following is strictly prohibited:
talking, sharpening pencils, giving signals, disrupting, etc.
All pencil sharpening is to be done before testing begins.
Cheating is unacceptable. You will receive a zero and an office referral.
Visitors
We will have visitors (special guests, substitutes, administrators, parents) in our classroom throughout the year, and I expect you to respect them and behave accordingly.
There will be no inappropriate letter writing or reading during class. (love notes, gossip, etc) Since this is an English class, each time a student is caught with a letter he/she must rewrite a letter for me in correct friendly letter format. All grammar and mechanics must be correct. This is in addition to the consequences listed above. This is usually not a problem in my classroom, but I do want to have a policy in place in the event that it becomes a problem. **Each time the letter will be taken and filed in a discipline folder.
Cell Phones should not be seen or heard in my classroom!
Students are required to comply with all rules, directions, procedures, requests, etc. each day!
No student will be allowed to abuse the educational rights of his/her class members with disruptive behavior!
