I graduated from South Panola High School in 1978. I earned a Bachelor of
Science degree in Consumer Education/Business from the University of
Mississippi in 1982. From there, I worked for FedEx for 5 years in the Risk
Mangagement Department. In 1996, I received my "calling" to become a teacher
and returned to college at Delta State to earn my Bacheor of Science in
Elementary Education K-8. In 2002, I also earned my Masters Degree in
Education from the University of Mississippi. I am certified to teach all
content areas K-8, English K-12, Social Studies/History K-12,Drama, and
certified as a Reading Specialist. This is my 11th year of teaching English
in grades 8, 10, and 11. As a Drama teacher, I led my students in the award
winning preformances of "A Raisin in the Sun", "Barefoot in the Park",
and "Faith County" in the North Mississippi Theatre Alliance High School
Competition.
My goal for my students is to fall in love with learning! One of my favorite
quotes about education is: Education is not about filling a bucket, but
about lighting a fire of desire to learn. - Miriam Wright Edelman
I want to be a positive role model for my students of a life long learner.
English includes reading, writing, speaking and listening skills that we use
every day of our lives, not just in an English classroom. We need these
skills to become productive citizens, employees, employers, and
communicators. Our young people are the future; we must invest our all in
providing a quality education for every student!
