MONDAY, APRIL 6 - FRIDAY, APRIL 17, 2009

Students are reminded that they are to come to class prepared each day. This means
always having notebook, pen, pencil, homework, etc. Students are reminded that a
poptest can be given at any time. Keep up with reading assignments. M & M refers to
the Myths and their Meaning textbook and EH refers to the textbook by Edith Hamilton.
The teacher has the right to amend (change)the syllabus if necessary.

MONDAY,
APRIL 6 - Students will be listening to a speaker in the auditorium during
2nd Period and Homeroom.
TUESDAY,
APRIL 7 - Bellringer Activity.
Students should be able to identify Hercules and explain
information about his early life.
Discussion/Lecture Chapter 11, pp. 160 - 162, which will include
information on his early life, education, training, marriage, and
ultimately madness.
Complete worksheets, handouts, etc.
Possible poptest.
WEDNESDAY,
APRIL 8 - Bellringer Activity.
Students should be able to identify and explain the Twelve Labors
of Hercules.
Discussion/Lecture of Chapter 11, pp. 162 - 166, which will include
the first six labors of Hercules.
Complete worksheets, handouts, etc.
Explain "Comic Strip" assignment for the Twelve Labors of Hercules.
THURSDAY,
APRIL 9 - Bellringer Activity.
Students should be able to identify and explain the Twelve Labors
of Hercules.
Discussion/Lecture of Chapter 11, pp. 162 - 166, which will include
the last six labors of Hercules.
Complete worksheets.
Possible quiz.
HOMEWORK: Students are to prepare a fifteen (15) question matching
poptest on the information in Chapter 11 concerning Hercules.

APRIL 10 - GOOD FRIDAY HOLIDAY
MONDAY,
APRIL 13 - Bellringer Acivity.
Students should be able to explain and identify myths concerning
the later career of Hercules.
Discussion/Lecture of Chapter 11 which will include Queen Omphale,
Prometheus, Antaeus, the Centaur Nessus, Deianira, and the death of
Hercules.
Complete review exercises.
TUESDAY,
APRIL 14 - Bellringer Activity.
Students are to use information from notes, etc. to prepare a comic
strip on one (1) of the twelve labors of Hercules. The comic strip
should contain at least eight (8) boxes. Creativity, color, etc. will
be considered in this grade.
HOMEWORK: Study for TEST on CHAPTER 11.
WEDNESDAY,
APRIL 15 - Bellringer Activity.
Students should achieve competence on a major test.
TEST on CHAPTER 11.
THURSDAY,
APRIL 16 - Bellringer Activity.
Students will gain understanding of myths concerning the hero Jason.
Discussion/Lecture of Chapter 12 from Edith Hamilton's Mythology.
Complete worksheets, handouts, etc.
TOPICS: Aeson, Jason, Pelias, early adventures of Jason

APRIL 17 - Bellringer Activity.
Students will gain understanding of myths concerning the hero Jason.
Discussion/Lecture of Chapter 12, Jason, in the Edith Hamilton book.
Complete handouts, worksheets, etc.
Topics: Athamas, Nephele, Ino, Phrixus, Helle, Learchus, Melicertes,
the Quest for the Golden Fleece.
HOMEWORK: Prepare a fifteen (15) question matching poptest from the
information covered so far in Chapter 12.
