MONDAY, NOVEMBER 17 - FRIDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2008

Students are reminded that they are to come to class prepared each day.  This means
always having notebook, pen, pencil, homework, etc.  Students are reminded that a
poptest can be given at any time.  Keep up with reading assignments. M & M refers to
the Myths and their Meaning textbook and EH refers to the textbook by Edith Hamilton.

MONDAY,
NOVEMBER 17 - Bellringer Activity.
              Students should be able to identify and explain developmenets leading to
              the outbreak of the Trojan War.
              Discussion of Chapter 13, The Trojan War, which will include the background
              information and the choice Paris of Troy made which resulted in war.
              Complete worksheets, etc.
              HOMEWORK:  Study for TEST on CHAPTER 12.
TUESDAY,
NOVEMBER 18 - Bellringer Activity.
              Students should achieve competence on a major test.
              TEST on CHAPTER 12.
WEDNESDAY,
NOVEMBER 19 - Bellringer Activity.
              Students should be able to identify characters and explain developments
              during the Trojan War.
              Discussion of Chapter 13 which will include the sacrifice of Iphigenia,
              initial battles, the Gods take sides, Menelaus vs. Paris, and the shame
              of Achilles.
              Complete worksheets.
              Possible poptest.
THURSDAY,
NOVEMBER 20 - Bellringer Activity.
              Students should be able to explain developments during the final stage
              of the Trojan War.
              Discussion of Chapter 13 which will include the death of Hector, the
              death of Achilles, the Trojan Horse, and the fall of Troy.
              Complete worksheets and other handouts.
              Possible poptest.
              HOMEWORK:  Prepare a twenty (20) question matching poptest on the
                         information from Chapter 13.
FRIDAY,
NOVEMBER 21 - Bellringer Activity.
              Students should be able to achieve competence on review exercises
              concerning the Trojan War.
              Complete review exercises.
              HOMEWORK:  Begin studying for Chapter 13 Test which will be given
                         Wednesday, December 3.  Please have a safe and 
                         Happy Thanksgiving.  Remember that Mythology Projects which
                         count as three (3) test grades will be due on Monday, Dec. 8.
                         No projects will be accepted late!

DECEMBER 1 - Bellringer Activity.
             Students should be able to achieve competence on review exercises 
             concerning the Trojan War.
             Complete review exercises.
             HOMEWORK:  Continue studying for Chapter 13 Test which will be given
                        Wednesday, December 3.
TUESDAY,
DECEMBER 2 - Bellringer Activity.
             Students should be able to relate the adventures of Odysseus on his
             return home.
             Discussion of Chapter 14, pp. 202 - 219 from Edith Hamilton's Mythology.
             Complete worksheets.
             Topics:  Odysseus, Agamemnon's Return to Mycenae, Orestes' Plight,
                      Rescue of Iphigenia.
             HOMEWORK:  Study for CHAPTER 13 TEST.
WEDNESDAY,
DECEMBER 3 -  Bellringer Activity.
              Students should be able to achieve competence on a major test.
              TEST on CHAPTER 13.
              HOMEWORK:  Prepare a twenty (20) question matching poptest on the
                         information covered in Chapter 14.
THURSDAY,
DECEMBER 4 - Bellringer Activity.
             Students should be able to relate the adventures of Odysseus on his
             return home.
             Discussion of Chapter 14, p. 202 - 219.

DECEMBER 5 -Bellringer Activity.
            Students should be able to relate the adventures of Odysseus on his
            return home.
            Discussion of Chapter 14, pp. 202 - 219.
            Complete worksheets, etc.
            Topics:  Circe, Teiresias, The Sirens, Scylla and Charybdis,
                     King Alcinous and Queen Arete, Eumaeus, Penelope,
                     Telemachus, The Contest.
            Possible poptest.
            HOMEWORK:  MYTHOLOGY PROJECTS WHICH COUNT AS THREE TEST GRADES ARE
                       DUE MONDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2008.  NO PROJECTS WILL BE ACCEPTED
                       LATE BECAUSE YOU COULD HAVE TURNED THEM IN AT ANY TIME THIS
                       SEMESTER BEFORE THE DUE DATE.

             Students will "briefly" present their PROJECTS.
             Explain final POSTER PROJECT which will be due Monday, December 15.
             HOMEWORK:  Study for TEST on CHAPTER 14.

             Students will achieve competence on a major test.
             TEST on CHAPTER 14.
WEDNESDAY,
DECEMBER 10 - Bellringer Activity.
              Students will gain additional understanding of "The Odyssey" by viewing
              the video.
              Students will view the video "The Odyssey".
THURSDAY,
DECEMBER 11 - Bellringer Activity.
              Students will gain additional understanding of "The Odyssey" by viewing
              the video.
              Students will view the video "The Odyssey".
FRIDAY,
DECEMBER 12 - Bellringer Activity.
              Students will gain additional understanding of "The Odyssey" by viewing
              the video.
