Class Information Sheet

I. Introduction
Welcome to the wonderful world of Spanish!
I anticipate an exciting and productive year and look forward to getting to
know each of you.
We are all in this together, which means we need to show a team effort to
create the best learning environment possible.
Let’s all work together to make this a great year!
II. Objectives
A.
Students will recognize the culture of various Spanish speaking countries.
B.
Students will gain a working knowledge of Spanish vocabulary.
C.
Students will learn the mechanics of the Spanish language.
D.
Students will learn to read, write and speak Spanish.
E.
Students will apply their knowledge of the Spanish language to everyday
situations.
III. Needs for Class
Always
(everyday) have the following materials with you for class:
A. notebook for notes
B. writing utensil (pencil or pen--blue or black ink only)
C. loose-leaf paper

This site provides a convenient
way for you to retrieve your makeup assignments.
You can also access notes, quizzes, and other helpful information.
V. Classroom Procedures
A. Enter class quietly.
B. If homework was given the previous night, place it out on your desk.
C. Stop any form of talking after taking your seat and begin DO NOW.
D. Be kind and respectful at all times to the teacher and fellow classmates.
E. Participate in all class activities.
F. Please have all of your personal needs met before the tardy bell rings.
(Sharpen pencils and go to the bathroom before the tardy bell.)
(Students must be in seats before the tardy bell rings.
Failure to do so
will result
in a detention.)
G. You may not eat in class.
You may, however, drink in class, as long as your beverage
is in a bottle with a twist top and until the first spill occurs.
H. Please sleep at home, not in class.
I. Come to class prepared to learn.
J. When the teacher or a
classmate is talking, be respectful.
Any form of misbehavior at
any time will be dealt with as follows:
1st offense
--Offender(s) will receive a warning.
2nd and all sequential
offenses--Offender(s)
parent will be contacted and detention will be issued.
VI. Grades
Grades will be calculated using the point system.
Most daily work will be worth 25
points.
Most HW will be worth 10 points.
Most tests and projects will be worth 50-100
points.
DO NOWs will be worth 1-3 points a piece, depending on the activity.

2nd & 4th

Nine Weeks Exam

(2nd and 4th 9wk grades will depend only on daily, hw,
etc.
Semester exams only affect
semester grades.)
VII. Make-up Procedures
When you have been absent from class, please do the following:
A. If your absence is excused,
check teacherweb.com to pick up any missed work and notes.
Also, write down
your homework assignment and turn it in the next day.
It is your
responsibility to copy your notes and turn in your make-up work.
See the student
handbook for how much time you have to complete it.
Be sure to
check with me for any handouts.
C. If your absence is
un-excused, you automatically receive a zero for any missed daily
grades or homework assignments.
However, you are allowed to make up a test. It is still a good idea to check
teacherweb.com for your assignments, notes, etc.
All preassigned tasks
(including tests) must be made up on the day you return, even if the absence
is excused.
D. If you absence is official, ask me for your work the day before your
absence.
We will
then set up a due date for your work.
Depending on the assignment, it may be due
the day you return or prior to your leaving.
VIII. Drop Grades / Bonus
A. Each nine-weeks your lowest
quiz grade is dropped. (Only 1)
This does not apply to tests or projects.
No drop grades will be given for
tests or projects.
