TERM 2 LESSON PLANS (OCT. 20-DEC.19)
This term will add ACT vocabulary and ACT Prep practice tests to our
activities. Both will give added practice to my students getting ready to
take the ACT. I also have full practice tests available to students to use
when finished with classroom activities or before school. The more practice,
the better the score!
ACT Dates: 10/25;12/13;2/07/09;4/04/09;
WEEK 1(OCT. 20-24)
MONDAY-Last week during exams, I gave 3 handouts for students to read and
highlight:"McCarthyism and Joe McCarthy","The Madness Across the Atlantic",
and "The Salem Witch Trials Chronology of Events". We are discussing the
contents of these today.Students should keep these articles in their
notebooks for reference during this unit on The Crucible.
TUESDAY- Today in class we are discussing the lives of the real people who
are portrayed in Arthur Miller's The Crucible. We will also read Emily
Dickenson's poem #1583 about witchcraft and discuss the implications of her
poem in relation to the articles from Monday.
WEDNESDAY/Thursday-handout study questions for Act 1 of The Crucible. We will
start reading the play in class along with listening to the audio cd of Act. 1
FRIDAY-Vocabulary and ACT prep test: Handout of vocabulary terms to be
completed by next Friday; Work on ACT test prep 1 in class. Vocabulary packet
will be due next Friday. The remainder of class will be used to discuss
answers on last weeks work on the first practice test.
