Students are working by grade level on the current GO GREEN topics leading up to Earth Day.

 

Seniors:  Desiree and Keira

“Developed countries have a higher obligation to combat climate change.”

1.       Plan a series of service project ideas

2.     Implement and video tape these service projects

3.     Create an invitation for community leaders to visit the high school and join a panel discussion on how we can combat climate change and go green in our community

 

Juniors:  Amani, Zarrod, Dip, and Terrell

“Describe what energy independence would look like in your community.”

1.       Discussing various ways to break our dependence on fossil fuels, new alternatives, and what might work best for our community

2.     Create an original 3 minute video to show your finding

 

Sophomores:  Hillary, La ‘Sha, Martrell, and Carlos

“ How can the US achieve energy independence?  Lessons learned from Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Edison, John D. Rockefeller, Henry Ford, and Albert Einstein.”

1.       Research each of the above historical figures and find out what they believed about independence and specifically the US’s dependence on foreign sources of energy.

2.     Create a 30 frame PowerPoint project

a.      defining what energy independence is

b.     assessing how the US gets its energy

c.      what each of the historical figures believed about energy independence

d.      alternative forms of energy available to the US
