What supplies do we need for the class?

Students will have the following items daily:
                        A. notebook for notes 
                        B. writing utensil (pencil or pen--blue or black ink 
                           only) 
                        C. loose-leaf paper 
 		        D. a paperback Spanish/English Dictionary

What are the objectives of the courses Spanish I and II?

A.  Students will recognize the culture of various Spanish speaking 
countries. 
B.  Students will gain a working knowledge of Spanish vocabulary. 
C.  Students will learn the mechanics of the Spanish language. 
D.  Students will learn to read, write and speak Spanish. 
E.  Students will apply their knowledge of the Spanish language to everyday  
situations.

What are the classroom procedures?

            A. All personal needs are to be met before the tardy bell rings, 
               (restroom) 
            B. Students are to enter class quietly, take a seat and     
               begin the DONOW.
            C. Homework is checked every morning by the teacher while 
               students work.
            D. Students are to be kind and respectful at all times.
            E. Students are to participate in all classroom activities, no 
               sleeping.
            F. Students may not eat in class.  They may drink in class, as 
               long as the beverage is in a bottle with a twist top.

What are the consequences for misbehavior?

            A	1st offense--Offender(s) will receive a warning. 
            B.	2nd offense--Offender(s) will receive an extra assignment or 
                             detention. 
            C.	3rd offense--Offender(s) will receive detention and lose drop 
                             daily grade. 
            D.	4rth offense--Offender(s) will receive detention and parent 
                             will be called. 
E.	5th offense---Student will be sent directly to the office.

How are the grades calculated?

A.  Class Participation:  DN, homework and weekly notebook grades:	25%
B.  Weekly Quiz:  Vocabulary, grammar, listening recognition 		25%
C.  Unit Tests:	2 or 3 tests and the 9-week projects			25%
D.  9-Week Test							        25%

2nd and 4th 9 weeks:

A.  Class Participation:  DN, homework and weekly notebook grades	30%
B.  Weekly Quiz:  Vocabulary, grammar, listening recognition		35%
C.  Unit Tests: 2 or 3 tests and 9 week-projects			35%

What are the procedures to make up missed work?

	
A.	If the  absence is excused, the student should check teacherweb.com 
to pick up any missed work and notes.  Homework assignments are due the next 
day.   Be sure to check with the teacher for any handouts. 
B.	If the absence is un-excused, you automatically receive a zero for 
any missed daily grades or homework assignments.  However, you are allowed to 
make up a test. All preassigned tasks (including tests) must be made up on 
the day the student returns,  even if the absence is excused. 
C.	If the absence is official, ask the teacher for the work the day 
before the Absence.  A due date for your work will be set up Depending on the 
assignment, it may be due the day of the return or prior to leaving.

Can my lowest grade be dropped?

A. Each nine-weeks, the first quiz missed due to an absence is automatically 
a drop grade.  If the student has no absences, then the lowest quiz grade is 
dropped. (Only 1) No drop grades will be given for tests or 
projects.
