                    labeling the body parts.

       Objective:  For students to complete a translation 

       Do Now:     Write five of the sentences written for homework in 
                   Spanish and in English.

       Procedure:  After review the homework, students will work on the
                   translation on pg. 275.  They will answer the questions.

       Objective:  For students to review ser and estar in present,  
                   past and inperfect forms of the verbs.

       Do Now:     Students will answer questions about the translation.

       Procedure:  Teacher will review the tenses and she will show examples
                   of all the tenses.

       Procedure:  Using the vocabulary studied in this chapter and the 
                   verbs learned, the students will be divided into groups and
                   they are to write a script in which each person in the 
                   group must participate at least three times.

       Homework:   The students will complete skits and be ready to present
                   in class on Thursday.

       Objective:  For students to show what they have learned by presenting
                   their original skits.

       Procedure:  Teacher will introduce Chapter 8 to the class.  Students
                   will be introduced to the first set of vocabulary words on
                   pages 260-261.

       Homework:   Draw a map using four streets.  Name the four streets and
                   draw little squares on the sides of the street representing
                   the businesses.

       Objective:  Students will learn by translating a passage

       Do Now:     pg 549 #1, just write the word

       Procedure:  Students will be given a passage that they will translate
                   into English.  They will answer questions.

       Homework:   To complete what wasn't done in class.

Wednesday, April 15

       Objective:  Students will review the vocabulary given on Monday

       Do Now:     pg. 548, #2 just write the word

       Procedure:  The teacher will call out a store and students will say 
                   what can be bought there.  Students will be given a
                   worksheet which involves drawing a map and labeling it 
                   according to directions.  They will work in pairs.

       Homework:   To complete what wasn't done in class.

Thursday, April 16

       Objective:  For students to practice with the new vocabulary and 
                   review for a quiz.

       Do Now:     The teacher will write items and the students have to 
                   write the store where these can be purchased.

       Procedure:  Half of the class will be given products and the other 
                   half will be given the stores where these can be bought.
                   The students have to find the person who has the word 
                   that matches theirs.  The teacher will review with the 
                   class for the quiz.

       Homework:   To study for the quiz.

Friday, April 17

        Objective:  For students to show what they have learned by taking 
                    the quiz on the vocabulary.

        Do Now:     Questions on the vocabulary to prepare for the quiz.

        Procedure:  Students will take the quiz.  They will make sure that

        Objective:  To learn the difference between saber and conocer 

        Do Now:     Translate sentences using the present progressive

        Procedure:  The teacher will go over the conjugation of saber and 
                    conocer in the present and the preterit and when to 
                    use each.

        Homework:   Complete a worksheet, choosing whether to use saber
                    or conocer.

Wednesday, April 8

        Objective:  To students to understand the meaning the celebration
                    of Holy Week and Easter in Spain.

        Do Now:     Students will be given sentences in which they will have 
                    to choose whether to use "conocer" or "saber"

        Procedure:  The teacher will explain the celebration of "Semana Santa"
                    or Holy Week.  The students will be given an article which
                    they will read and answer questions about it.

        Homework:   To work on their 9 week project

Thursday, April 9

        Objective:  For students to answer questions on a quiz about Holy
                    Week.

         Do Now:    Students will be given questions from their readings
                    about Holy Week

         Procedure: Students will be given the passage read on Weds. and they
                    will translate it for a quiz grade.  When they complete 
                    this, they will watch a DVD in Spanish.

        Objective:  Students will be asked to complete a translation

        Do Now:     Students will provide the correct conjugations in some
                    sentences with the irregular verbs learned Monday.

        Procedure:  Students will be given a passage in English to translate 
                    into Spanish and then be given the Spanish translation
                    so they can see how close their translation was.

        Homework:   Complete a translation from Spanish to English

Wednesday, April 1

        Objective:  Students will work on their 9 week project by going
                    to the computer lab.

        Do Now:     Students will go directly to the lab. They will write 
                    three things they found in their research online and 
                    write these on their Do Now sheets.

        Procedure:  Students will do research on their chosen topics.

        Objective:  Students will continue studying the irregular verbs in 
                    the preterit.

                    preterit verbs.

        Objective:  Students will learn the new endings for the irregular 
                    preterit and be taught the verbs tener, estar and andar.

        Do Now:     Students will be given sentences with ser and ir and 
                    they need to put in the right conjugation and then put 
                    to the side whether it is, "to be" or "to go".

        Procedure:  The students will learn the correct endings for the 
                    irregular verbs and then learn tener, estar and andar 
                    which have similar irregularities

                    Students will learn some new vocabulary words and
                    complete 7-3 and 7-4

        Homework:   Write ten sentences with each verb.

Wednesday, March 25

        Objective:  Students will review the five verbs taught this week, plus
                    the endings of the irregular verbs.  They will review
                    vocabulary words learned this week for a quiz on Friday.

        Do Now:     Students will be given sentences with the three verbs
                    learned on Tuesday.

        Procedure:  The students will play a game with the vocabulary words 
                    and the verbs in order to prepare for the quiz.

                    Students will divide up into groups and draw pictures with
                    the vocabulary words.  

        Homework:   To finish the drawings started in class today.

        Do Now:     Students will write 5 sentences using the vocabulary words
                    studied this week.

        Procedure:  Students will translate a passage along with questions
                    They will turn this in at the end of the class.

                    a quiz.

        Procedure:  The teacher will introduce worksheet 5-9 and go over the 
                    meaning of the verbs.  Students will work independently
                    or in groups on paragraph # 1, not only choosing the 
                    correct verb, but conjugating it correctly and then
                    translating the meaning of the sentences.

        Objective:  For students to use their knowledge of the vocabulary to 
                    write a paragraph of what they were like as children.

Lesson Plans                                       Jan. 12-16

Monday, January 12

        Objective:  To review the vocabulary learned last week and to add 
                    new words to the vocabulary list

        Do Now:     Answer the following questions about the movie,

                    1.  Why did Flor leave Mexico?
                    2.  Where did she live and why did she choose that state?
                    3.  What was difficult for her boss to pronounce?
                    4.  How could she communicate if she didn't know English?
                    5.  What was the cause of friction between Mr and Mrs.
                        Klausky?

        Procedure:  The teacher will review the vocabulary with the students
                    The students will add the their vocabulary list the words
                    on pg. 166-167.  Students will complete worksheets 5-1 and
                    5-3 in class.

        Homework:   To complete pgs. 5-2 and 5-4

Tuesday, January 13

        Objective:  To learn by translating from Spanish to English

        Do Now:     pg. 540, #1 1-6 (bottom) Only have to write the word.

        Procedure:  The students will complete translation #12 in class for
                    half of class and then work on the posters which they 
                    started last week.

        Homework:   To complete the translation not finished in class.

Wednesday, January 14

        Objective:  To learn the imperfect form of the verb

        Do Now:     Students will answer questions having to do with the 
                    translation

        Procedure:  Students will study pg. 175 and 175 and learn the
                    conjugation of ar/er and ir verbs.  Students will complete
                    pgs. 5-5 and 5-6 in class.

        Homework:   To complete worksheet 5-7.

Thursday, January 15

        Objective:  To review the vocabulary and verb conjugations for a quiz
                    that will be on the quiz on Friday.

        Do Now:     pg. 541, #2 (top) 1-6.  Write the works chosen, not sent.

        Procedure:  The teacher will review the students by asking them the
                    vocabulary words in Spanish and have them say them in 
                    English and visa-versa.

        Homework:   To study for their quiz

Friday, January 16

        Objective:  For the students to take a quiz on the vocabulary words
                    and verb conjugations.

        Do Now:     To write the translation of 10 words.

        Procedure:  To take the weekly quiz and then watch the second half
                    of the movie watched last week.

        Homework:   No homework for the weekend.

Tuesday, January 6:  3 Kings Day!

        Objective:  For students to learn the history and the celebrations
                    which go on during the celebration of 3 Kings Day.

        Do Now:     Translate the following sentences into Spanish:
                    1) What is your name?       4) I'm from Clinton
                    2) I am 16 years old.       5) See you later.
                    3) Good afternoon

        Procedure:  The teacher will explain the history behind the tradition
                    of "Three Kings Day" and the students will complete an
                    activity having to do with the holiday

        Homework:   To complete a translation activity

Wednesday, January 7 

        Objective:  To introduce Chapter 5:  Childhood
        Do Now:     Answer the following the questions:
                    1) La madre de mi padre es mi ______________.
                    2) El hijo de mi tio es mi _________________.
                    3) La hermana de mi madre es mi ____________.
                    4) Los hijos de mis padres son mis ___________.
                    5) Mi padre es el ___________ de mi tio.

        Procedure:  The teacher will go over pgs.159-163, teaching tne
                    new vocabulary

        Homework:   Make a poster for a kindergarten class in which we are 
                    teaching colors/numbers/shapes/fruits/animals 

Thursday, January 8

        Objective: To review the new vocabulary.

        Do Now:   pg. 540 #1 (top of the page)  only the word

        Procedure:  The teacher will review words such as siempre, always,
                    algunas veces, sometimes, and nunca, never.  Students 
                    will take two toys from pgs. 162-163 and write
                    sentences how often they played with them

        Homework:   Finish what was not finished in class.  Review for a quiz


Friday, January 9

        Objective:  For the students to learn what they have learned with 
                    a short quiz

        Do Now:     No Do Now

        Procedure:  Students will take a short quiz and then turn in homework
                    and do nows for this week.  They will watch a video in 
                    Spanish

        Homework:   No homework for the weekend

Lesson Plans                                 Dec. 9-12

        Objective:  To review for the semester exam

        Do Now:     No Do Now

        Procedure:  Students will work on their study guides.

        Homework:   Study for the Semester Exam

Tuesday, Dec. 16- Friday, Dec. 19   Semester Exams
