                   and be assigned 4 more.  Then student will complete

       Procedure:  Students will be introduced to the first set of vocabulary 
                   words.  Students will begin to do their taco style
                   vocabulary, the first column.

                   Game:  Students will match the business with the items
                          which are sold in that business.

       Homework:   Conjugate four verbs as a review for the verbs learned 
                   this year.

       Objective:  For students to complete a translation passage.

       Do Now:     Students will match businesses with the things that 
                   are sold there.

       Procedure:  Students will go over the verbs conjugated yesterday
                   and be assigned 4 more.  Then student will complete
                   the translation during class.

       Homework:   Students will continue with their verb review.

       Objective:  For students to continue learning the new vocabulary

       Do Now:     Students will answer questions about the translation

       Procedure:  Students will begin working on a map as a chapter project

Thursday, April 23

       Objective:  For the students to learn how to give simple directions
                   in Spanish

       Do Now:     pg 535, #1, write the answer only

       Procedure:  Using the map, the teacher will show the students how to 
                   show how to get from one place to another.  Then the 
                   students will incorporate this into their map projects.

       Homework:   Study for a quiz on the verbs studied this week

Friday, April 24

       Objective:  For students to show how much they have learned from
                   the review of the verbs.

       Do Now:     Students will be given some sample questions similar to 
                   those on the quiz, for a review.

       Procedure:  Students will take their quiz and then finish their map
                   projects to hand in for a grade.

       Do Now:     Draw a face and label the head,the eyes, the nose,
                   the ears, and the mouth.

       Procedure:  Students will review the parts of the body.  The teacher
                   will call out a part of the body and students will point
                   to that part of the body.  Teacher will review how to ask,
                   "How do you feel" and to answer correctly.

       Homework:    Complete worksheet 9-3 and 9-4

Tuesday, April 14

       Objective:   To translate two paragraphs from the textbook having to
                    do with health

       Do Now:      Translate into English:
                    1.  My ears hurt.
                    2.  My feet hurt.
                    3.  My stomach hurts
                    4.  My head hurts.
                    5.  My leg hurts.

       Procedure:   Students will read the paragraphs from pg.298 and 306
                    The students will translate these paragraphs to English
                    and answer the questions.

       Homework:    Complete what is not done in class.

Wednesday, April 15

       Objective:   To review the present tense of verb dormir and show 
                    how to use this verb to talk about the pains on has.

       Do Now:      Students will answer questions having to do with the 
                    translation.
       
       Procedure:   Students will conjugate the verb dormir and then the 
                    teacher will quiz them on it.  The students will all
                    choose an ailment and write it down on a paper.  The 
                    teacher will collect the papers and then give them out 
                    to other students who will get up and act out the ailment
                    the students must guess (in Spanish) what is wrong.

       Homework:    Worksheet 9-5 and 9-6

Thursday, April 16

       Objective:   To learn about the indirect pronoun and adjective

       Do Now:      Translate from English to Spanish:
                    1.  My head hurts.
                    2.  My stomach hurts.
                    3.  My feet hurt.
                    4.  My ears hurt.
                    5.  My arms hurt.

       Procedure:   Teacher will go over the grammatical concept behind the 
                    indirect pronoun and adjective, giving examples.

                    Students will work on worksheet 9-7 and 9-9.

       Objective:   For students to show what they have learned by taking a
                    quiz.

       Do Now:      Student will complete sentences using the indirect
                    pronouons and adjectives.

       Procedure:   Students will take the quiz.  They will hand in all 
                    work for the week to be graded.  They will watch a DVD in 
                    Spanish

                  4.  Tienes un sotano en tu casa?

       Procedure:  The teacher will introduce the chapter and go over the
                  first set of exercises. Students will do half the taco style
                  vocabulary 

                  The students will divide into groups and make a drawing of  
                  the face and label the different parts.

       Homework:  To complete worksheet 9-1 and 9-2

Tuesday, April 7

       Objective: For the students to review the vocabulary and complete 
                  a simple translation from English to Spanish

       Do Now:    pg. 532, #1 1-8 (note duele for singular, duelen for plural)

       Procedure: Students will correct the Do Nows and Play a game of
                  "Simon Says"

       Homework:  To complete a worksheet.

Wednesday, April 8

        Objective:  For students to learn the second set of vocabulary words

        Do Now:   Students will answer questions about the translation

        Procedure: Teacher will go over the vocabulary and the students will
                  complete the second half of their taco style vocabulary.

                  The students will divide into pairs and one will come up 
                  with a sickness and only give the symptoms to their partner
                  who will guess what the sickness is.  Then they will switch
                  roles.

        Homework:  Complete a crossword puzzle.

Thursday, April 9

        Objective:  For students to a short quiz on the part of the body

        Do Now:     Match the vocabulary on the body parts in Spanish to
                    the English words.

        Procedure:  Students will complete their "Do Nows" and then take
                    a short quiz.  After the quiz they will watch a DVD
                    in Spanish

        Objective:  To present vocabulary words having to do with shopping,
                    names of stores where clothes can be bought.

        Do Now:     Translate the following clothing and make sure that the 
                    color matches with both gender(male/female) and number
                    (singular/plural)

                    1.  The yellow blouse
                    2.  The blue  jeans
                    3.  The orange shirt
                    4.  The red socks
                    5.  The purple jacket

        Procedure:  After completing the "Do Now", the teacher will go over
                    pgs. 190-191 and the new vocabulary will be added to
                    the taco style vocabulary.

        Homework:   Students will do worksheet 6-3 for homework.

Thursday, January 22

        Objective:  To review the vocabulary learned in Chapter 6 and to
                    learn about demonstrative adjective

        Do Now:    pg. 523, #1 (bottom) 1-6

        Procedure: Students will study pg. 202-203.  The teacher will give
                   them examples of items and they will choose which
                   adjective to use.  The students will complete 6-5 in class

        Homework:  Students will complete worksheet 6-6 

Friday, January 23

        Objective: For students to demonstrate their knowledge of the
                   clothing unit.

        Do Now:    Each student will write down what they are wearing today.
                   (must include shirt, pants/skirt/dress, socks and shoes,
                   along with the color of each.

        Procedure:  After the students have written down what they are
                   Each will stand before the class and say what they are 
                   wearing.  While the students are presenting, the rest of 
                   the class will write down what the student is wearing and 
                   this will be handed in for a quiz grade at the end of the 
                   class.

        Homework:  No homework for the weekend. 

Lesson Plans                                       Jan. 12-16

Monday, January 12

        Objective:  To introduce Chapter 6, Clothing

        Do Now:     pg. 522, #4 (1-6)  Write the sentence

        Procedure:  The teacher will teach pgs. 181-185, introducing the new
                    vocabulary on pg. 185.  The students will write their new
                    vocabulary in "taco style" vocabulary.

        Homework:  To complete worksheets 6-1 and 6-2

Tuesday, January 13

        Objective: To translate a short passage from English to Spanish

        Do Now:    Students are to write 5 items of clothes that women usually
                   wear and 5 items that men usually wear.

        Procedure:  Teacher will go over the Do Now and Homework and then
                    go over a short exercise in class where the students
                    will translate from English to Spanish.

        Homework:   To translate a passage given by the teacher.

Wednesday, January 14

        Objective:  To use the vocabulary learned on Monday in conversations

        Do Now:     pg. 523, #2 (1-6)

        Procedure:  The students will work with a partner.  Using pgs. 186-187
                    Student A will ask the questions and Students B will
                    answer them.  They will each be given 5 questions
                    write on the back of their "Do Now" sheets.

        Homework:  Take a paper and divide into 16 squares and draw one of the
                   vocabulary words on each block.  They are to label each
                   block with the name and the color of each item.

 Thursday, January 15

        Objective:  To learn the second vocabulary words from Chapter 6.

        Do Now:    The students are to write down the four seasons in Spanish
                   and under each season write four items of clothes used
                   in that season.

        Procedure:  Teacher will go over pgs. 190-191 and students will add
                   new words to their vocabulary list

        Homework:  To complete worksheets 6-3 and 6-4

Friday, January 16

        Objective:  To take a quiz on the vocabulary words learned this 
                   week and to start working on the chapter project

        Do Now:     Translate 10 vocabulary words

        Procedure:  Students will complete their Do Nows and hand them in
                    for a grade and then take an quiz.  Later they will work
                    on a booklet that they will complete on clothing.

        Homework:   No homework for the weekend

Tuesday, January 6:  3 Kings Day!

        Objective:  For students to learn the history and the celebrations
                    which go on during the celebration of 3 Kings Day.

        Do Now:     Translate the following sentences into Spanish:

                    2) I am 16 years old.       5) See you later.
                    3) Good afternoon

        Procedure:  The teacher will explain the history behind the tradition
                    of "Three Kings Day" and the students will complete an
                    activity having to do with the holiday

        Homework:   To complete a translation activity

Wednesday, January 7 

        Objective:  To learn the conjugation of the verb, tener, to have and
                    to review the verb ser, to be

        Do Now:     Answer the following the questions:
                    1) La madre de mi padre es mi ______________.
                    2) El hijo de mi tio es mi _________________.
                    3) La hermana de mi madre es mi ____________.
                    4) Los hijos de mis padres son mis ___________.
                    5) Mi padre es el ___________ de mi tio.

        Procedure:  Teacher will review the conjugation of the verb ser
                    and introduce the conjugation of verb tener.  The students
                    will read pg. 166.  and answer question A-C

        Homework:   Write two sentences for each pronoun (10 in all)

        Objective:  To review the adjective words

        Do Now:     Matching:

                    Spanish
