PBIS Vision Statement:

Students in AEP/ISS are eligible for
Positve Behavior System (PBIS) incentives.

To Students, Parents and/or Guardians

Encourage your child/children to be studious and use
wisely his/her gifts, time, and talents as students.

Student(s) should come prepared to do assignments.
(paper, pencil, laptop, etc.)

 
If, however, they don't have regular class textbooks,
assignments, and needed materials I will request
or supply some of those needed items.

Student(s) are to come to ISS/AEP wearing 
school dress code.
 
Student(s) are to try to complete assignments during
allotted time.
 
Student(s) are to try to complete assignments corresponding
to class
periods.
 
Student(s) assignments will be handed in to the regular
 classroom teacher(s) for recorded grades.
 
 
 
Student(s) are not permitted to participate in any
extra-curricular activities (football, band, etc.)

Student(s) are requested to complete a Work Performance
 and Behavior Assessment Form each
day they are in ISS/AEP.

Behavior problems that occur in In School Suspension or
in the Alternative Education Program will result in
Out of School Suspension (OSS).
 
 
 Days absent without an excuse will
have to be made up.
 
 





COFFEEVILLE HIGH SCHOOL

     ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM AND IN-SCHOOL SUSPENSION   
RULES AND PROCEDURE

 1. Students must report to the Alternative Education Program (AEP) 
    and In-School-Suspension when they arrive at school. The ISS/AEP 
     instructor will check for students that will be in ISS/AEP and will go to 
       breakfast with the students. Tardies to ISS/AEP or  Check-Ins/Check-Outs  
  (excused or unexcused) will result in an extra day of ISS/AEP unless
 approved by the administration). Absences from ISS/AEP
   will be made up before returning to regular classes. 

2. The school secretary will IM/e-mail ISS/AEP instructor and
regular classroom teachers during 1st period to notify
them who is in ISS/AEP.


3. Students must bring books, paper, pencils, pens, and other
materials to ISS/AEP.


4. The ISS/AEP instructor will assign students a seat. Students will
 remain seated at all times. Only essential movements related
 to the completion of assigned tasks will be allowed.


5. Students will not sleep or rest their heads on arms,
desk, wall, etc. at any time.


6. Students will not talk to other students or make any noises.


7. Students will not pass notes to anyone.


8. Students will not eat candy or chew gum while in ISS/AEP.


9. Students may speak only when instructed to do so by
the ISS/AEP instructor.


10. Students are expected to complete all work assigned by
teachers or the ISS/AEP instructor. The ISS/AEP
instructor will sign off saying the student receive
and turned in the completed work.


11. Student will be walked to lunch. Students will not be able to buy 
snacks. Drinks or food will not be allowed in the ISS/AEP room.


12. Students will be given restroom/water breaks every
two (2) hours, or as deemed appropriate by the ISS/AEP
 instructor. The ISS/AEP instructor will escort the
students to the restroom.


13. Students may have the opportunity to talk with a counselor
or other school personnel that provides services
during the time they are assigned to ISS/AEP.


14. Students will not be allowed to use the office phone unless
there is an emergency.


15. Students will follow all school board policies and school
 rules while in ISS/AEP.


16. Students will not be allowed to participate in any in-school
or after school activities, such as band, athletic events or
drama, the day(s) they are in ISS/AEP.


17. Students will follow CHS dress code while in ISS/AEP.


18. The ISS/AEP instructor will contact parent/guardian of
each student assigned to ISS/AEP to share information about
student conduct and progress.


19. Students will not mark on desks, chairs, study carrels, etc. 
Any defacing of the ISS/AEP facility (or other school property)
will be considered an act of vandalism.


20. Any verbal instruction given by an administrator or ISS/AEP
instructor shall supercede these printed rules and procedures.


    21. Any violation of rules may result in additional days of ISS/AEP.
The ISS/AEP instructor can recommend extra days of  ISS/AEP.
If extra days are recommended by ISS/AEP instructor the student will be
referred back to the school administrator; this may result
in OUT-OF-SCHOOL SUSPENSION.


 As we are an educational institution and the student's behavior and
academic well being is our primary concern. Any student's academic
well being is
best maintained by compliance with school rules.
