Dear Parents/Guardian,

I want to extend a warm welcome to all of you. Welcome to Coffeeville High
School. My name is Bernadette Sayles and I will be serving as your
son/daughter Driver Education/Girls Basketball Coach and Physical Education
teacher. It is an honor and privilege to work
with your child. To all of our new school families, I thank you for choosing
our school and allowing us to begin serving you and you children. To all of
the returning families, I thank you for your continued belief in our school.
It is your continued belief and support in us that allows our school to more
effectively meet the needs of our students year after year.

As in anyone’s life-a student’s life, a school’s life-we will face mountains.
Some of those mountains will be easy to climb and some will be
extraordinarily difficult. Regardless, we are faced with them. Now remember,
a mountain does not need be an obstacle and keep us from moving forward.
Sometimes the mountain beckons us to climb it and sometimes the mountain
challenges us to climb. Sometimes we can take the ski lift to the top and
enjoy the ride, and sometimes we must put on our hiking boots and climb every
inch of the way. We will make it to the top with the appropriate tools,
determination, and encouragement.

To climb our mountain this year, there are five areas along the way that we
need to conquer in order to reach the summit-attendance, attire, attitude,
actions, and academics. Within our knapsacks, we will need to pack
determination, perseverance, willingness, courage, knowledge, discipline, and
strength. We will want to toss in goals and character to sustain us. Of
course, it is going to take teamwork to get us to the top. So, all of us need
to strap on that knapsack parents, guardians, teachers, mentors, and
community members. Let’s scale that mountain together and lead our children
to great heights.

Attendance- For students to have the best chance to success, they must in
attendance everyday of the school year. A student missing school can never
get back that lost time.  Students also need to participate in class
discussions, asking questions, and interacting with teachers and students.

Attire- Students be in dress code. See pages in Student/ Parent Handbook.

Attitude- Our attitudes influence our actions. I believe that attitudes of
learning will lead to actions of learning. Every student must be focused on
learning when she/he walks through our front doors. Misbehavior takes
opportunities of learning while actions will lead your children to success.

Academics- Giving your children necessary tools and resources and every
opportunity to succeed is what we do. This is why we are here. To prepare
students for college, we must hold our students to these high standards.
Competition in the work-world only continue to increase, and your children
deserve to be able to effectively compete and compete successfully. It is
imperative that students come to school prepared to learn, equipped with the
necessary tools, and give priority to their daily class work and daily
homework.
Sincerly,

Bernadette Sayles
