I am a listener and an asker of questions. I'm a guide walking one step behind you.

I want to get to know you... the REAL you. I want to help you get to know yourself. I want to help you make good decisions... decisions that will help keep the future's doors open for you. I want to help you figure out where you're going from this place... and when you decide where you want to go, I want to help you get there. We'll make sure that your application is more than
just a piece of paper. We'll make sure it's a piece of you.

I want all these things because I care about you... because I want you to walk in my door during Christmas break, six months after you graduate, and I want to hear how happy you are. Even if you aren't happy, I want you to know that I'm here to listen and together we can get you back to the right track. I'd love for you to call me up five or ten or fifteen years from now and say, "Things worked out great for me!" Even if I never hear from you again after you leave this place, I will care about you and be wishing good things for you.

It's going to take some work, but together we can do this. I need you to remember that you are the one who is going to have to do most of the work. YOU have to own this process, or it can't possibly turn out right. I need you to remember that if you make mistakes along the way, we'll have to be honest about those mistakes and then you'll learn from them and move on.  But you won't have to go it alone... I'll be right here the whole time.
