My child is frustrated with Intensive French, is this normal?

It is normal for many children to feel frustrated within the first
couple of
weeks. The format for this program is different from any other
that they are
used to. Encourage your son/daughter to focus well on the teacher
as there
will be lots of gestures, prompts and props to help get the idea or
topic
across. If after a few weeks your child is still frustrated please
contact
me and we can discuss the situation.

I don't speak French, how can I help my child?

The simplest answer to this question is to positively encourage
your child as
he/she goes through this process. Ask questions about what theme
they are
doing in class. Have them talk to you about how much they are
understanding
and speaking in class. Also have your child try to teach you some
French as
well!

I am afraid my child will lose some of his/her English skills.

I will be assigning reading and writng homework each week. Please
insist
that your child work to the best of his/her abilities on this
work. After
the Intensive Block is over we will be doing English and building
in lots of
Science and Social Studies. This is to ensure that over the course
of the
year, no time will be lost for English Language Arts skills.
