What is an example of classwork for this class?

Students are required to keep a Science Journal in
a 3 ring binder which will contain divided sections
for daily starter questions and responses, a
homework/classwork section, a Lab Report section,
and a section for tests.
All class activities/labs will be written up in an
approved format and submitted for classwork
grades.

Occasionally, an activity will encompass a weeks
worth of effort including the design of a
scientific investigation, the collection of data,
graphs and an explanation of the results along with
a student illustrated cover sheet.
These class investigations will be collected from
each student involved and can count as a test grade.

All tests will be sent home for a parent signature
and when returned signed, will count as a 100 for a
homework grade.

Notebook/Materials checks will be held periodically
and will count as a classwork grade. If any parent
has difficulty in obtaining the required materials
please contact me personally.

Will there be science content tests as well?

Yes. Science vocabulary and concept tests are
part of the NC State Science Curriculum.

These written tests will usually include fill in the blank,
matching, short answer, discussion questions
and conceptual "Thinking Maps."

These tests are teacher created and will reflect
both chapter knowledge and application questions
along with lab and process oriented content.
