Applications are online. Please fill out the application and interview questions, also online. Submit to Mrs.Meek(413) and/or Ms.Riggs (306). In the spring, we will meet with students and have interviews. We have rubrics for admission. Will I have to take honors classes??? Yes...AVID students take Honors and AP classes. What happens if my grades are not good? If grades and even behavior are not up to par, you will be placed on probation. If grades/behavoir do not improve, you will be removed from AVID. What are some of the requirements of AVID elective/AVID? Binders...COrnell Notes...peer collaboration....tutorials Yes...and No...Grades and behavior are a must. All students, in AVID, can attend...if their grades are good.... Yes...Riggs and Meek both track grades...For the 07-08 school year, Meek tracks the 9th and 10th graders and Riggs tracks the 11th and 12th graders. Both teachers have spreadsheets and fill them in each week, on Tuesdays. Grades are recorded for each class. Each week, grades are discussed with students. If a student is not doing well, both teachers discuss with the student ways to improve and arrange meetings with teachers, if needed. Tutors are labled WRONG...They are NOT tutors in the tradtional idea. They are Facilitators. Currently, AHS only has 1 tutor. We have interviewed and recomended several tutors. Beyond our recomendations for hiring, the process is out of our hands and out of the school's hands.
