Mrs. Allen decided to become a librarian when she was nine years old. She
has a Master's degree in Library Science from the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill, and she has been a librarian for more than fifteen
years. Mrs. Allen has a wonderful husband, two beautiful children, and nine
pets. When she is not taking care of animals, she likes to read and take
walks.
The mission of the Briarcliff Elementary School Media Center is to teach
students to be effective users of information and to encourage and prepare
students to be life-long learners. The media center program exists to
enrich and supplement the curriculum and the North Carolina Standard Course
Of Study by
working with teachers to develop educational strategies to meet the
information needs of students and to augment teaching
supporting the school's curriculum and reading initiatives
providing intellectual and physical access to informational materials in a
variety of formats and media
stimulating interest in reading and in finding and using information and
ideas
promoting the use of the media center by students and faculty
providing instruction in information literacy
