National History Day

Option 2 for BIG IDEA project!

3/21/12: Regional competition at ECU-all students that created an entry for Chicod's competition are invited on this field trip!

NHD students, see the National History day Edmodo page for your deadlines if you have lost your green packet. Group Code is: 2yguwj

National History Day makes history come alive for America's youth by engaging them in the discovery of the historic, cultural and social experiences of the past. Through hands-on experiences and presentations, today's youth are better able to inform the present and shape the future. NHD inspires children through exciting competitions and transforms teaching through project-based curriculum and instruction. As part of your social studies average you will complete a project on one of the topics that we have learned about in each nine weeks (Big Idea Project). As an alternative, you may choose to work on a year-long project where you research, plan, and create an entry for the National History Day contest. Participation and successful completion of the NHD project will take care of meeting the project requirements for all 4 nine weeks. This will be one project that you develop in a group or on your own over the course of the year. Rules, Theme, and Entry requirements are listed at the National History Day Project Website below.
