Viruses such as the common cold are contracted by breathing contaminated air or by
mucous
membrane contact(hand to mouth or nose). To prevent the spread of viruses and
bacteria, the
single most effective thing you can do is proper HANDWASHING! Also, always remember to
COVER
YOUR COUGH OR SNEEZE! Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or sneeze into the
upper sleeve
of your clothing, not into your hands. Always put tissues into the trash and WASH
YOUR HANDS!
If your child is sick, has a fever, vomiting or diarrhea, PLEASE do not send them to
school
until they are symptom free!! If after fluids and rest their symptoms do not improve,
call or
visit your doctor. Antibiotics only work against bacterial infections and are not used
to treat
viruses. If your child is prescribed an antibiotic, take the entire prescription as
directed.
