When do I know which graph to use with my data?

Pie (Circle) Graph = Is a good choice when the data are parts of a whole. Use this to show percentages.

Line Graph = Is appropriate when you want to show change over time.

Histogram = A bar graph that displays how frequently data occur within equal intervals. You can use a histogram to display and compare data.

Bar Graph = Is a good choice when the data can be counted and you want to make comparisons.

Double Bar Graph = Compares two or more sets of data.

Mean, Median, Mode, Range, Maximum, and Minimum

Mean = The sum of all the numbers divided by the number of addends. (For example: 9 numbers are added up to equal 747, so 747 / 9 = 83. 83 is the mean.

Median = Middle

Mode = Occurs most often.

Maximum = The largest number.

Minimum = The smallest number.

Range = Maximum - Minimum
