FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
You'll notice on the home page there is a moving "Email" icon in the upper right hand corner. Just simply click on it and it will open up a box in which to email me. You can also find the Email link at the top bar of any web page. How often will information on this site change? I will be using this website very often. If there is a new test, quiz, or project coming up, I will immediately add it when I have the date(s). I will also add any new current events information that I think is interesting or important for the kids to know. I will also update surveys and will occasionally post a quiz on this site for the kids to complete and submit to me. When am I considered late at school? Many children start arriving in the building at 7:25 (this is when children are allowed in the room). At 7:45 the Tardy bell will ring. If a child walks through the door anytime afterwards, they are considered tardy and will have to report to the office for a tardy slip. My child has an appointment at 10:30, are they considered absent? No. If a child leaves to go home anytime prior to 11:30 they are considered tardy. Anytime after that they are considered absent. Also, only if it is an emergency, your child cannot call home to be picked up the last hour of the day. If you have any questions about this information, please talk to one of our wonderful office staff. They will be able to help you more! What are the enhancements for the week? Please look at the "Class Schedule" that is a link posted either on the home page or up at the top of every page. Will there be a quiz or test every week? Yes! There will always be a spelling test every Friday. Only on short weeks or weeks that we have had a lot of "interruptions" will I cancel or post pone a spelling test. Other than that, please be checking your child's agenda and this website for any scheduled tests and changes to dates of tests. Do I need to sign my child's agenda every day? Yes! I will be checking agendas on Fridays and occasionally throughout the week. The point of you signing the agenda everyday is simply to say to your child, O.K. I see what you have done in school for the day and understand that you have __________ for homework. It is also a way to see if I have wrote a message to you. My child is sick and needs medication. Do I send it to school? Whenever you need to send any form of medication - even tylenol - you will need to come into the school and fill out a short form on that medication. The forms and medication will then be kept with our school nurse and given out by her or the office staff when needed. No medications can be kept on your child. Should my child be coming home every night with some form of homework? Yes! Only on very rare occasions will your child not have homework. Usually it is math and language arts both and occasionally other subjects. I am usually the mean teacher :) who also gives out Friday homework. If I do assign Friday homework it will always be short and simple unless it is about a major project due, then it might be a bigger assignment. A Thursday folder just came home, what do I do? If there are graded assignments in it, you will need to sign the top of the stapled stack and return it to school the next day along with the signed Thursday Folder. You will notice on the inside of the folder, there is a place for a parent signature for every week of every month. Please sign there every week so that I know you saw your child's papers/announcements. Any and all return signed graded work from the Thursday folders will be held onto until about midpoint of the school year for my records. There is a change to the way my child will come home tonight . PLEASE try to tell me or the school if your child will have a different method of coming home than the usuall way. Sometimes it is hard for me to get those messages at the end of the day. I don't want to take the chance that I have put your child in the wrong line to go home. |
