I am so happy to be here at Granite Quarry! I made the move here from
Jackson, Michigan in late August 2007. I attended college at Eastern
Michigan University where I graduated with a BS in Elementary Education and
a double major in Integrated Science and Group Social Studies. This allows
me to have a certificate that states that I am Highly Qualified to teach
science and social studies through grade eight. Both my student teaching and
my first teaching job taught me a lot about differentiation, Multiple
Intellegences, and understanding how best to reach students with special
needs. I have taken workshops on these topics as well as have my own
personal resource and hero in my mom! My mom is both a Special Education
teacher and middle school language arts teacher who I "bounce" ideas off
constantly! :) I was a multi-age teacher for grades 4 - 6 and taught science
for grades 4 - 8 at a public charter school. It was in August 07 that I was
offered a job here at Granite that I happily excepted! This will be my
second year teaching at Granite. Currently, I am pursuing my master's degree
in Geosciences through Mississippi State University. My ambition is to teach
at the college level to teach teachers how to teach science! :)
To provide a safe, higher level thinking classroom where every childs voice
is heard and respected. Every child has the right to know that they are safe
when they are in my classroom. Every child also has the right to be
challenged academically, supported and encouraged, and learn in a positive
learning environment.
