What To Expect This Year with an IMPACT classroom:
This year we will be integrating technology throughout our curriculum. I was
fortunate enough to be selected to be part of the IMPACT training that will
be going on throughout the year. This training helps teachers teach students
new ways of using technology and presenting their work. I will be working
closely with our wonderful "techy" staff; Mr. Moose and Mrs. Schull. There
will be a technology survey coming home (as well as found on this website)
for parents to complete. Parents and students will be asked to sign a
technology contract to enforce a positive learning environment with the use
of technology.
Using WIKI'S for the FIRST time in elementary!! :)
The purpose of using a wiki in the classroom allows our students the best
opportunity to learn in a global, technological savvy community all while
learning material relevant to our state's Standard Course of Study.
Wiki's are one way to get our students learning through online
collaboration. Many teachers have found that using wiki's in the classroom
allow students to have an alternative way to share ideas and examples with
one another. Research has also shown that students who use wiki's tend to
increase their writing ability such as sentence and paragraph structuring as
well as their vocabulary.

The link will be about evaluating websites. As a fifth grader, we must know
that not all the information on the web is accurate, reliable, or
appropriate. We need to know how to tell the difference between a "good"
website and a "bad" website.
