World History
This is a bigging level World History Survey course. Survey courses are
important because new students need to understand the fundamental outlines of
history before they can begin to analyze todays events. The goal of a survey
course is to teach the basics; for example, the unit is “Emerging
Civilizations”, not a unit on “Greece and Rome.” Students need to be exposed
to all periods, all cultures and all major world concepts. Allowing students
to gain a world context before they are taught US History and Civics and
Economics shows them where they are situated in the world. There is no EOC
Exam in World History, but by doing well in this class students are better
prepared to do better in the more rigorous History Classes.
