I am pleased to be teaching your son/daughter this year. I really enjoy
teaching! This is my 10th
year
teaching Civics/economics. I have an undergraduate degree in Economics from
Western Carolina University with an ROTC commission as an Army Officer.
After serving in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper I joined the Greensboro
Police Dept. where I spent 7 1/2 years as a tactical patrol officer. At the
end of my police career, I obtained a masters degree in education at UNC-
Greensboro. It’s natural that I am teaching government because I have spent
most of my life working for the government.
Through the study of Civics and Economics, students consider political,
governmental, and legal topics that engage them in examining the legal and
political and economic systems of our society. This course begins with the
historical foundations of civil, political, and economic activism that
created our nation, state, and localities. It empowers students to become
politically and economically active and responsible citizens of the twenty-
first century.
To help prepare our students for the future.
