2008 8th Grade Schedules will be mailed with report Cards.
Please be aware that every student absence from school requires a parent or
guardian to inform the school as to the reason the child was not present. You
have many options-- you may send a handwritten note to the homeroom teacher
when your child returns to school. You may email the homeroom teacher, or
team leader, regarding the nature of the absence. You may also call the
attendance office at Heritage to inform them of the absence. Without some
form of parental contact, the absence remains "unexcused" on the computer
system.
On the third unexcused absence, a representative from Heritage Middle School
will call the parents' home/work numbers on file to be sure the student is
alright, and to confirm the reason for these absences.
On the 6th unexcused absence the NCWISE attendance system used in Wake County
will generate a letter to the parent/guardian detailing the dates of absences
and requesting additional information from parents.
Upon the accrual of the 10th unexcused absence, further investigative action
will be taken by HMS administration/staff.
Please avoid the need for any of these measures by informing your child's
homeroom teacher whenever your child misses school. Thank you!
