What is the student agenda used for?
It is your son/daughter's responsibility to write down
assignments, bring their student agenda home, and bring it back
to school with their homework completed in their homwork folder
everyday except Fridays. Please be sure to sign their agenda
daily so that I know you saw it. Student conduct will also be
recored in there so there are no surprises on the report card.
We can also use this as one way to communicate with each other.
Try to encourage them to do this on their own, but you may need
to be their "crutch" in the beginning. We are trying to be more
independent and responsible in third grade.
What is the Tuesday folder?
Tuesday folders will go home every Tuesday. This is a way to see
what your child has been working on, receive any important school
handouts, and monitor their homework/class work habits and
conduct. Please remember to sign your son/daughter's Tuesday
folder, return anything that needs to be returned to school, and
return it the next day.
What if my child has a transportation change?
Please remember to send in a note with your child the day he/she
will be going home a different way than they usually do. I
cannot send them home a different way without written permission
from you. A note will also be needed for any absences.
Can I request a conference?
Please let me know whenever you feel the need to discuss a
question or concern regarding your child. You can send in a note,
call me at school, or email me.
Can I volunteer?
I would love to have volunteers in the classroom! Just let me
know, and please remember to register as a volunteer through the
WCPSS before you volunteer and/or do lunch bunch. See the office
staff to sign up.
What are the classroom expectations?
Students are expected to follow classroom rules and procedures on
a daily basis. Remember, we are trying to instill good habits now
and in the future. Your child is expected to...
- Be honest
- Make good choices
- Show respect
- Accept responsibility for grades and other consequences
- Remember safety first
Our red, yellow, green card system will be used when any of these
rules have been broken.
How do I know how my child is doing throughout the year?
Please be sure to check your child's homework every night. This is
a great way to see what they are understanding and what they
are struggling with. Also, as you look through their Tuesday
folder, be sure to look and see if they had to do corrections on
anything. This will also tell you what they were struggling with.
Friday review quizzes are copied and sent home if they miss 3 or
more. Please go over these missed problems with your child. They
are also corrected with me one on one. Interims and report cards
will also specify which objectives your child is strong in, and
which ones they can imrove on. And finally, ask your child how they
have been doing in class and what they have been getting on their
quizzes!
What if my child would like to send in birthday party invitations?
Bithdays are very special to children! If you would like to invite
the entire class to your son/daughter's birthday party, you may
send in the invitations and I can place them in their mailboxes.
However, if you are only inviting a select few, you will have to
mail or email the invitations. It is not fair to other students
when they see others getting invitations and they do not get one.
Can I do lunch bunch?
Yes! Your child would love to have you join them for lunch! You
will need to register with Wake County prior to having lunch with
other students. You may do so by visiting the school office for
online directions on how to do this. Only 4 children (this is
including your child and any siblings)should be included for lunch
bunch. You will need to stay down near the cafeteria and not go
beyond the stairways where the classrooms are.
