Principal Rob Bendel A Team Effort

At JDES our art, music, PE, and media teachers have begun co-teaching assignments in grade 3, 4 and 5 classrooms. This plan provides a wonderful opportunity to enhance differentiation by utilizing the unique talents and expertise of our Specials Teachers across the curriculum.

Specials Teachers will be teaming with a classroom teacher one day per week for two 45 minute blocks of instructional time. We are very excited about the potential that this collaborative effort will have in creating opportunities for smaller group instruction, professional collaboration, and lesson presentation enhancement.

In order to make this situation possible, our Specials Teachers will be giving up substantial planning and preparation time; however, this will enable them to increase interaction time with students and will help to spread their talents across many different curriculum areas.

Ultimately our students will be the beneficiaries of this collaborative effort.
