SCHOOL NURSES
School Health Nurses are REAL NURSES!
We are employed through the New Hanover County Health Department and are
contracted through the New Hanover County Board of Education. New Hanover
County presently has 38 School Health Nurses serving K4 through the early
college high school programs. We have varied educational backgrounds and work
experience. This includes hospitals, home health, physician offices and the
military. Our educational background includes associates, bachelors, and
masters degree in Nursing. Some nurses also hold speciality certification.
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required to sit for the
State Licensure Exam and to obtain the title of Registered Nurse. Therefore,
we must abide by the North Carolina State Board of Nursing laws and
regulations.
