ALL LAB REPORTS MUST BE TYPED.
1. Heading with personal information: Include your name, date, course,
block, as well as the name of your group partners.
2. Lab Title: Write a Title that describes the nature of the lab you
performed (i.e. “bubble gum lab” does not reveal much).
3. Purpose: Write a brief statement explaining the objective of your lab
and how this goal is to be accomplished. A single phrase or two is
sufficient. This will usually be verbally stated by the teacher or written on
the board.
4. Procedure: Prepare a summary of the steps that you followed while
performing the experiment. Do not write detailed instructions, but do make
the directions thorough enough that an intelligent person could read and
reproduce your experiment.
5. Data and Calculations: Record all data tables and results in your
report. Label all data with the proper unit and include the correct number of
significant figures for any measurement you have made. For all calculations
you must show all of your work.
6. Questions: You must copy all questions presented at the end of the
experiment. Be concise and specific in your answers.
7. Conclusion: A three- paragraph model is desired.
a. First write a brief summary of the theory behind the
experiment. Define the key terms and important theories.
b. In the second paragraph discuss the results of your
experiment. When appropriate, compare your results with a standard or actual
value by calculating the percent error and then explain why the error is so
small or large.
c. In the final paragraph write a concluding statement. Did you
meet the purpose of this experiment? How could you make the experiment work
better? Can you suggest any modifications or techniques to improve the
results of the experiment?
