READ, READ, READ! It is very important at this age to expose your child to
many forms of reading. Read to them, have them read to you, read the signs
on the road, read at the grocery store...anywhere! Read fiction, non-
fiction, poetry, comics, etc. The public library is a great place to check
out books on a variety of topics and it is free! Math is also extremely
important! Ask your child to find patterns around the house, estimate
contents in a jar, and solve problems. For example, ask your child to
decide how many forks and spoons will be needed for dinner or how many
pieces of toast will need to be made if everyone in the family wants two
pieces.
