Let me be the first to welcome you to Falcon Academy at North Forest Pines
Year Round School! We have the best school in the great state of North
Carolina. I am Ruth Coltrane and I have been apart of this fantastic school
since we first opened the doors. I have two precious girls, Meredith 24, a
master student at UNCG and Laura 19, a college sophmore. We have
two adorable cats named Gracie and Simba. They keep us very busy.
This year is my twenty-eighth year of teaching. Wow, where has the time
gone! I am happy to say that I enjoy teaching as much today, or even more as
I did that first year, twenty eight years ago. I have taught every grade from
kindergarten to fourth grade. This is my first year teaching Falcon Academy
and I am so excited about this new challenge. I am very happy to be working
with third, fourth, and fifth graders to assist them in strengthening and
improving their reading and math skills. Reading is going to be a wonderful
adventure using our new nooks and brand new laptops. Math will keep us busy
learning and practicing many skills incorporating our laptops and hands on
activities. Parents are always welcome to stop by and visit the Falcon Academy
room and I encourage you to keep in touch with me throughout the school year.
I am so happy to welcome students and parents "Aboard the Coltrane" this
year and I look forward to working with each of you.
Unity
I dreamed I stood in a studio
And watched two sculptors there.
The clay they used was a young child's mind
And they fashioned it with care.
One was a teacher-the tools she used
Were books, music, and art.
The other, a parent, worked with a guiding hand
And a gentle, loving heart.
Day after day, the teacher toiled with touch
That was careful, deft, and sure.
While the parent labored by his side
And polished and smoothed it over.
And when at last their task was done,
They were proud of what they had wrought.
For the things they had molded into the child
Could neither be sold nor bought.
And each agreed they would have failed
If each had worked alone.
For behind the parent stood the school
And behind the teacher, the home.
