"For heights and depths no words can reach.... music is the soul's own speech."

Hello! My name is Joyce Carroll. Music has always been a big part of my life. My mother would sit her family around the piano and sing songs to us in her beautiful soprano voice...."Tell me the stories of Jesus, I'd love to hear." Grandma would play piano for us too and have us dance and sing to the music. All the cousins had matching outfits so we felt very special entertaining family members!! Tap, ballet, cherub choir, girls choir, cathedral choir, school choir, vocal ensembles, and musicals were all part of my early musical experiences. My very first role was the White Rabbit in an "Alice and Wonderland" production..."I'm late, "I'm late for a very important date." I remember those words to this day!!! I thank my mother and very first choir teacher, Edith Norberg, for starting my musical journey. The experiences and opportunities they provided me with early on cemented my love of music and desire to teach it later.

I have a B.A. in vocal music education, K-12, from the College of St. Teresa, in Winona, Minnesota. Prior to coming to OLG, I taught Kindermusic at the UNC-G Community Music School, was a substitute music teacher, directed a children's church choir, and taught private piano. In addition to music, I enjoy cooking, reading, walking and spending time with family.
