I was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  I left this beautiful island at age eleven to move with my family to the US Virgin Islands.  After graduating from high school, I left another "tropical paradise" to attend Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  In addition to adapting to college life, I also had to adapt to the cold winters in Wisconsin!!  At Marquette, I studied speech language pathology and after graduation returned to Puerto Rico to work in the school system as a Speech Language Pathologist.  I knew that I wanted to go back to graduate school in the US.  After working for two years in Puerto Rico, I attended the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater.  Apparently, I forgot how cold it gets in Wisconsin.  I got married while attending graduate school.  Because my husband previously lived in Greensboro, we decided to move back here a year after I graduated.

I have two terrific kids, my son attends Bishop McGuinness High School and my daughter goes to OLG.  I enjoy gardening, traveling, listening to music, baseball, cooking and spending time with my family.  My favorite places are the beaches in the Caribbean.  Because I do not go as often as I would like, I settle for quiet mornings on my back porch drinking coffee and listening to the birds.

I look forward to sharing my native language with you.  My hope is that each student will experience the joy of learning a second language, as well as develop an appreciation for other cultures and the contributions these cultures have made to our world.
