Dear Parents,
It is hard to know what to write after last week. I just know that we
are blessed to be part of this community...thank you for your support and
love. We have seen this third grade class grow in compassion and caring for
one another, and it warms our hearts. We will continue this journey
together, celebrating our wonderful memories of Ella. :)
In honor of Ella, please have the children wear something pink and/or
purple with their uniform tomorrow. It will be Ella Day!
Congratulations to Patrick Breidsprecher, Caitlyn Mike-Mayer, and
Lillian Morris for their great showing in our school spelling bee on
Friday!
We will celebrate Valentine's Day tomorrow! Valentines are optional,
but, if you decide to send them in, please make sure there is a Valentine
for each child in the class. Also, please do not address the Valentines to
specific children. Just have your child sign his or her name on the
Valentine. It is much easier to distribute them that way. Also, we will be
making our own envelopes to carry Valentines in, so no need to bring a
container.
This week's basic plan:
Religion: We will study Chapter 15 and learn about Jesus' Passion and death
on a cross.
Spelling: Test on Unit 23 this Friday. Bonus word is "tournament."
Reading: We will read "Leah's Pony." Regular reading test Thursday.
Math: We took our test on fractions today. We will start a new unit on
multiplication and division which should be easy for us since we have been
studying since October.
Social Studies: We will continue with coming up on Wednesday mornings, but
we will now be studying the states and capitals! We are also studying about
he industrial age and will have a fun activity this week about an assembly
line.
Science: We will study about changes in the earth's surface and renewable
and nonrenewable resources. We will have a quiz on Thursday.
Birthdays: None this week.
Kinders: Caitlyn, Lillian, Luke, Dillon, Marcel, and Frances should
bring in 3-4 books to read to the kinders in Mrs. Johnston's class today!
Totally Terrific Me: Stephanie!
Have a great week! Happy Valentine's Day!
