8th Grade

Eighth Grade 

August 30th- First day of class.  Test on Color Wheel. Making corrections on 
color wheel.  Discussing tertiary colors. Covering the principles and 
elements of design as seen in still-life on center talble.  Then drawing 
still-life.

Sept. 6th- Discussing nonobjective and representational art.  Showing 
examples. Looking at different styles of painting/art ie portraits, self-
portrait, landscapes, abstract, still-life and genre.  Test on styles using 
mini hallway museum. 
       


2nd trimester 

Nov. 15th Finishing colour theroy project. Nov. 22nd Starting making santa's 
workshop gifts. We will spend the next three weeks creating items for sale as 
fundraiser for 8th grade DC trip.  Dec.21st-Jan. 2nd. Christmas break. 
Jan.3rd Discussing Jackson Pollock and his art. Creating our own Jackson 
Pollock. Should take two weeks to complete.  Jan. 3rd starting on Jackson 
Pollock. First  the home work 
assigment Due Jan.24th.  Print out of their favorite Jackson Pollock painting 
alone with a paragraph 
describing the feelings evoke by the painting.  Jan. 3rd watching a video on 
Jackson Pollock.  Jan.10th 
practicing dripping paint for our final painting inspired by Jackson 
Pollock.  Jan. 17th paintin  final.
Jan. 24th Homework due and quiz on Jackson Pollock.  Students will use notes 
taken in class. Jan.31 
Presenting paintings with favorite painting of Jackson Pollock. Jan. 31st 
Jackson Pollock quiz and presentations of Pollock inspired drip painting.
Feb. 14th Drawing still-life in pencil. Then creating into a multi meduim 
composition.  Feb.28th Video on perspective.
