At River Road Middle School we have a traditional school band. We teach the traditional parade band instruments. At the beginning of the 6th grade year no prior knowledge is expected. Our band program is based on continuous growth. Band students must pass band each semester to continue in band. Students must join the band in the sixth grade in order to be able to participate in the band in 7th and 8th grades. Students interested in piano, orchestra (violin, viola, cello. or bass), guitar, drum set, or other musical instruments not used in the school band should contact one of the local music stores, universities, or Arts of the Albemarle (http://artsofthealbemarle.com/default.html) to inquire about private lessons.
