Homework Tonight -- Chapter 19 worksheet due tomorrow for a grade. We
will start our study of Northern Europe tomorrow.
The Social Studies Final Exam will be on Thursday June 3. I will be handing
out the exam study guide on Friday May 21st. We will have review sessions
monday-wednesday of next week. I will also put the study guide on my
website. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thursday 5/6/10
Europe Travel Research Packet due Monday 5/10. I will collect it
before we leave for the field trip. I will return it on Tuesday so that you
will have it to start your L.A. paper.

Homework tonight: Chapter 18 Study Guide due tomorrow

Research Packet is due on Monday May 10. I will collect this before we

Thursday 4/29/10
I handed out the Study Guide for Chapter 18 today. We will finish the
chapter tomorrow in class. The Study Guide is Due on Tuesday, May 4. The
test will be on Wednesday May 5. I will stay after school on Tuesday to
help any students who would like help studying for the essays on the test.
There are two essays.
The students will have 2 social studies classes tomorrow. During one
of them, they will have time to research about travelling to their assigned
country in Europe. More on this below.
For homework tonight each student is to print out an article from
wikitravel.com about their assigned country.
A couple of weeks ago, the students were given a project to research
and create a travel brochure for an assigned country in Europe. After
finding out about some other deadlines they have, and realizing how close
finals are, I have amended that assignment. They still will be researching
about travelling to a country in Europe. They will NOT, however, be
required to do the travel brochure. They will need this research instead to
write a 5 paragraph essay in language arts. In social studies we have
created a research packet and brainstormed about questions that they need to
research for this essay. They will get 2 grades for the essay -- one for
social studies and one from language arts. In social studies we will then
have a party in late May where the students will bring in a food from their
assigned country.

Monday 4/26/10
Extra Credit Assignment for Mrs. Ferretti's Social Studies class is due
Wednesday 4/28 and for Mrs. White's Social Studies class, it is due Thursday
4/29. Write 1 good paragraph about a famous artist, engineer or scientist
from the Renaissance Period describing the person's achievments or
accomplishments. If you chose a person we talked about in class you, must
write about acheivments or accomplishments that we did NOT discuss in
class. The assigment is worth 10 points which can be added to a test grade.
This week we will continue our study of Southern Europe and focus on Italy,
Spain and Portugal. We should finish on Thursday or Friday. We will then
have a test on Chapter 18 next week. I will hand out a review sheet later
this week.
You should be working on researching about your country this week and next
week. We will have time in class on Friday to do research as well. You
each have a detailed outline now of what types of questions to research.
Remember, you are trying to convince your parents to take you on a trip to
your European Country.
Monday 4/12/10
The Chapter 17 test has been moved to Wednesday. Anyone who did not
turn in the study guide today, can turn it in tomorrow for 5 points off. We
will start our study of Europe on Thursday.
Tuesday 4/6/10
Homework Tonight -- Complete Review Handout on Pacific South America
Geography. I will take this for a homework grade.
I will be handing out the Chapter 17 Study Guide Tomorrow. It will be
due Monday, April 12th for a grade. We will have a Chapter 17 Test on
Tuesday. There will only be only 1 essay on this test.
Tuesday 3/9/10
I will be staying after school tomorrow, Wednesday to help students
with PowerPoint projects. I can stay until 4:30. For homework continue
working on the Argentina section of your review sheet.
Monday 3/8/10
Homework -- Finish Powerpoint Chart that you started in class today.
It is due tomorrow.
In order to work more on the PowerPoint in class, The Chapter 15 test
will be moved to Tuesday, March 16.
The Chapter 15 Review Study guide was handed out last Friday 3/5/10.
You were to start it over the weekend. It will be due for a grade on
Monday, 3/15. This week I will assigned parts of it for homework.
The PowerPoint Presentation and Written Portion is due one week from
today on Monday, March 15. I am trying to work out a conflict to stay after
school on Wednesday. I will update this tomorrow to let you know.
Friday 3/5/10
Chapter 15 Review Study guide was handed out today. Students are
encouraged to do pages 1-4 over the weekend. The entire study guide must be
completed by Thursday, March 11 for a grade.
Mrs. White class has to complete the map activity on Brazil for
homework this weekend.
I will be staying after school Monday for any student wishing to work
on their PowerPoint project. The PowerPoint project and 2 paragraphs are due
March 15th.
Afterschool study session for Social Studies Test -- Thursday, March
11th from 3:30 to 4:30.
Wednesday 3/3/10
Quiz tomorrow about how the history of Brazil impacts its Culture. We
did a chart in class today to prepare.
Tomorrow -- I will have an after school session in the library for
anyone wanting to work on their Powerpoint. I will be there from 3:30 to
4:30.
We will finish our Study of Atlantic South America early next week.
I will be handing out the study guide on Friday of this week. The test will
be next Friday. I will also have a study session next Thursday to get ready
for the test. This will only be to prepare for the essays. It will be from
3:30 to 4:30.
Monday 3/1/10
Homework Tongiht: Complete Amazon River Handout. This will be taken
for a Grade.
We will be studying Brazil and Argentina this week. There will be a
quiz on Thursday about the History and Culture in Brazil.
I will be staying after school on Thurdsay to work with anyone who
wants help with the Powerpoint. I will be here from 3:30-4:30.
Monday 2/22/10
1. Chapter 15 test returned today. Test needs to be signed and
returned tomorrow.
2. Extra-Credit -- for homework tonight, you can redo essay No. 3 from
the test. It must be turned in tomorrow. I will not accept this late.
3. Current Event Assignment for Chapter 16 handed out today. It is
due Friday, February 26. It will count for a grade in Social Studies and in
Language Arts.
4. We will have time for completing our research for the PowerPoint on
Friday. This will be your last day to research. It should be completed.
We will start working on the actual powerpoint during tech on Monday March 1.
Tuesday 2/17/10 -- Chapter 15 Review Study Guide is due tomorrow. We will
have a review session in class. The test is on Thursday.
POWERPOINT PROJECT UPDATE:
On Friday 2/19, we will have session in the library to work on the research
for your Powerpoint project. Remember all research should be done by
February 26th. The PowerPoint is due on March 15. We will be working on
the Powerpoint part of the project during technology on Monday, March 1 and
Monday March 8th.
Thursday 2/11/10 -- Today you were given the Chapter 15 Review Study Guide.
This will be due on Wednesday February 17 for a grade. If you complete
sections II-V you will get a 100.
The TEST on Chapter 15 will be on Thurdsay February 18th.
Research on your PowerPoint Country should be done by February 26. You need
3 sources.
Monday 2/8/10 - Get your Chapter 13 test signed.
Continue working on the research for your PowerPoint Project. We made the
research books in class. Use those to take notes. All of your research
should be done by February 26. Remember, you need 3 sources for your
research.
Monday 1/25 - Test on Chapter 13 on Friday. Each student was given a review
study guide on Monday 1/25.
Tuesday 1/19 - Current Event for Mexico Due Friday 1/22. Make sure the
article is attached to your paragraph
Thursday 1/14 - No homework. Have a great weekend. Mrs. Ferretti will be
collecting your Central and South America Maps for a grade on Tuesday.
Wednesday 1/13 - Finish your maps of Central and South America if you have
not already done so.
