 I am so pleased and fortunate to be a member of the staff of SMCS; this is 
my 5th contract year!I am NC certified as highly qualified, with a Masters of 
Arts in Education. It is a blessing to me to educate the children of this 
school. I taught previously Religion and Social Studies in Connecticut; I am 
very enthusiastic about my content area. Our focus for 7th grade SS is on the 
continents of Asia and Africa; 8th grade concentrates exclusively on American 
History.I welcome suggestions and information about Wilmington to use in our 
classes as we travel through our world. Seventh grade Religion centers on Our 
Lord, Jesus', life, his teachings, institution of the sacraments,and his call 
to each person to be a disciple of Christ.

Essay writing is a component in all subjects.

I actively utilize maps, graphs,tables,and charts in all my classes; these 
tools and their use serve students for a lifetime. I encourage different 
types of writing, from haiku to informational non-fiction.We employ hands on 
activities to reinforce cultural aspects when possible. I hope to 
encourage life long curiousity in the world and global events.
