Hello everyone! I am the 7th and 8th science teacher for St. Mark! I am
beginning my 13th year teaching middle school for the Diocese of Raleigh. I
taught middle grades math and science and coached the varsity girls
basketball team in Jacksonville, at Infant of Prague for 5 years before
joining St. Mark's family in the fall of 2004. I am proud to say that I
coached the girls' volleyball and boys' basketball teams for two years
as I helped establish St. Mark's athletic program and initiated us into our
current conference. We are now part of the Southeastern Middle School League
(SMSL) which includes volleyball, soccer and basketball. It has been an
honor and privilege to be a part of the sports program and I look forward to
many great seasons here at St. Mark! Go Lions! Two years ago, I also had the
incredible honor of receiving the Monsignor Gerald Lawrence Lewis Award for
Excellence in Teaching! What true blessing and honor it was to be awarded
and recognized among some amazing educators throughout our diocese! I still
can't believe it happened!
My husband, Allan and our daughter, Emma, have had a wonderful summer! Emma
turned THREE and it has been such a wonderful summer being able to spend it
with her! We spent alot of time swimming, running, bike riding, going to the
beach, and learning how to spell words! I can't wait until she has the
opportunity to be a Little Lion!
I have a BA in Environmental Science from Catawba College and my NC License
in Middle Grades Science and Math. Before teaching, I worked at an
environmental outdoor education center and then the US Forest Service.
My mission is to spark an interest in scientific explorations and help young
adolescents become more secure and confident in all aspects of life as they
grow and graduate from St. Mark!
