January 2012
Dear Parents,
January is really jamming with great things. This month the children will finish up the fact families for multiplication and division. They should continue to practice these facts as we will be moving on soon to multiplication of multiple digits and long division with and without remainders.
The children have been working with Mrs. Burns and are finishing up their research on colonial times. Look for this presentation during Catholic Schools’ week in the lobby of the Church. The presentation will also show samples of some of the colonial toys the children made in art class.
Make sure to check outside your child’s classroom for the magical train stories. These have clear beginnings, middles, and endings. Currently the children are working on a Snowman story that will be completed using a digital story program.
In science the children are learning about energy and will be doing several experiments to explore different types of energy and how it moves.
Looking forward our next service project will be to create and fill hearts for the Juvenile Detention Center. In early February the children will sew felt hearts then stuff them with treats for the children at the New Hanover County Juvenile Detention Center. Any extra hearts will be shared with St. Mary Outreach Program.
Peace and Blessings,
Mrs. Kidney
