The Salem Middle School PTA welcomes you to another great school year. The PTA will continue to work closely with the staff to provide extra support and assistance throughout the school year. Please become involved through the many volunteer opportunities available.

Here are a few reminders to all our volunteers:

Volunteer Registration:

Don't forget that ALL volunteers must be registered with WCPSS. This must be done from any school computer and must be done each year. Please keep this in mind, especially as field trips approach. Volunteer clearance must be issued before any volunteer goes on a field trip. This process may take up to 2 weeks so please plan accordingly. LobbyGuard:

SMS now has a LobbyGuard for visitor sign-in. This is an electronic, self-serve, visitor management system. The LobbyGuard not only provides a personalized photo visitor badge but it also performs an instant background check. It takes a few moments to sign in and will ask for your driver’s license. Please be sure to plan accordingly on your next visit to SMS.

Volunteer Cards:

Salem Middle School is distributing volunteer cards to those people who have already volunteered at the school and are currently approved by the WCPSS volunteer system. The cards will be located at the front desk for the next couple of weeks. After that, those that are not picked up will be sent home with your student. Remember, if you have not volunteered at Salem Middle yet, you will not have a card.

This card will have your name, volunteer registration number, level of clearance and Mr. Ellzey's signature. Please keep it with you and present it to the receptionist when you come in to volunteer. Your volunteer registration number will remain constant throughout your volunteer history and will be required-next year-when you re-register. You may also keep a record of your volunteer hours by accessing www.wcpss.net/volunteer/ and selecting the timesheets option.
