Mile Club The Mile Club is a program designed to help children make use of their break/recess time by instilling in them the importance of moving. Teachers can elect to participate or individual students may also make choices to walk/run 1 or more laps each day and add to a teacher talley.
The tally sheets are turned into Mrs. Umberger every three weeks and the students who have accumulated 40 laps in the three week period are presented with a Mile Club certificate and token that can be put on their bookbags. Eight laps of the outdoor walking track is equilvalent to l mile.
On Awards Day at the end of the year, participating children will be presented ribbons and certificates for accumulating 25 or more mile over the school year. This has been a very successful program and the children are learning a very important life lesson!! |
