Thank you to everyone that participated in Fete du Mardi Gras this year.
On the evening of February 18, 2012, we were once again transported to a space filled with the sights, sounds and tastes of New Orleans. The third floor of the Tileston building was beautifully transformed thanks to David Altman, Norberto Bautista, David Davis, Phil Davis, Jason Payne & Chuck Potter. After grabbing a Hurricane at the bar that Mindy & Andy Arthur and their parent volunteer crew so efficiently manned we made or way through the mist to the main event. Once inside the Upper Room 1871, we were immediately made aware of the reason for coming back year after year, the smell of the awaiting Cajun food, artfully prepared by our very own Clifton Lively and his tireless staff (The O’Leary’s, The Plocki’s The Hudson's, Jonathan & Alison Oehling, Vicki Howard, Suzanne Smith, Stephanie Watts, David Calhoun, Joe Daley) accosted our senses and made our mouths water in anticipation. While waiting for the dinner to be served, we were able to peruse the many auction items that Mrs. Jennifer Altman and her very persuasive & artistic marketing team (Anna Amato, Ashley Basinger, JoAnn Daley, Megan James, Kim Karns, Zonya Letson, Susan Linn, Sharon Marren, JoAnne Newton & Kathleen Oden) presented. As the night went on, we were entertained by the Dixieland All Star Jazz band and tried our luck at “Luca’s Super Cool Lounge”, where Kathleen & Ely Moore made the library feel like a speak easy from a different era.
As the night came to a close, another enjoyable time was realized.
A very special, thank you to everyone who made the St. Mary Parish and School's 8th Annual Fete du Mardi Gras celebration another successful event this year. Much is done behind the scenes and it was a collaborative effort that extended throughout the church and school with the teachers, parishioners and many parent volunteers. Their energy and support helped to raise approximately $20,000 this year, for enrichment and technology for the St. Mary School.
