Your spelling contract is due before we take the final test at the end of each
week. Please choose your activities carefully, and highlight which activities you plan to
do. Follow directions carefully. Always do your best and
neatest work! Spelling counts! J
Monday --
Language Activities - Choose two (all
in cursive):
- Write your words in a-z alphabetical order and z-a
alphabetical order.
- Use http://puzzlemaker.school.discovery.com to create and print a
puzzle using your spelling words.
- Choo-Choo
Words: Write each word end-to-end as one long word. Use different
colors for each word.
- Write your words using one color for the vowels and another color for the
consonants.
- Make a set of flash cards for studying your words.
- Write your words in secret code (a=1, b=2, c=3, etc.). Give your code to
someone to solve.
- Type your words on the computer in large font, using a different font and
color for each word.

Tuesday
-- Practice Activities - Choose one:
- Print your words adding one letter at a time. The result will be a pyramid
shape of words.
- Print your words neatly in pen 10 times each.
- Write your words 5 times each in cursive.
- Print your words 2 times using the opposite hand. Then write them
in cursive 3 times regularly.
- Write sentences at least 7 words long in cursive using each of your spelling
words. Underline the word.

Wednesday
-- Seeing/Touching Activities -
Choose one:
- Cut out letters from newspapers or magazines and spell out each of your
spelling words.
- Use letters from Alpha Bits cereal or alphabet pasta to spell each
word. Then glue them onto paper.
- Make a word search for a friend to solve.
- Draw a picture of each of your spelling words.
- Write each word in special letters (bubble, squiggly, block letters, etc.)
and color them different colors.
- (MESSY!) Write each word on an index
card. Write over them with glue. Then sprinkle glitter or jello mix over the glue. When dry, trace over
the letters with your finger. Close your eyes and feel the letters.

- Use the guide word worksheet and find the dictionary guide words for each
spelling word.
- Write a story using at least 10 of your spelling words. Underline
each spelling word.
- Write the dictionary definition for each word.
- Write and illustrate a poem using at least 10 of your spelling
words. Underline each spelling word.
