Nov. 9-13
Our field trip to the Bost Grist Mill was great! We had perfect weather
and the students learned a lot about how people lived in the late 1800's.
Hopefully your child shared some of the interesting things they saw, like how
the mill works, blacksmithing, and toys and clothes people wore. Thanks to
the parents who spent the day with us and helped everything go so smoothly.
Enjoy your bag of grits!
Remember school is closed again on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 9 & 10.
Teachers will be attending a statewide conference in Raleigh on those two
days.
We will have a Vocabulary test on Unit 5 next Friday, Nov. 13, even
though it is a short week. We worked on definitions this week in class, and
students were encouraged to take their books home over the long weekend to
get an early start on memorizing the words (although most probably chose not
to). That will be our only test next week.
We began our first chapter on multiplication and division in our math
book. Please begin working with your child on memorizing the facts 0-12.
There are links to a couple of math websites on the links page. You may want
to purchase some flash cards, too. Memorizing the multiplication tables is
one of our most important goals this year!
A school Mass is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 13, so please be sure your
child wears the correct uniform.
