Hello! I can't believe the 2nd year at Voyager is underway. Last year was
wonderful and I know this year is going to be unbelievable as well. I want to
let you know a little about myself. I was born and raised in Northern Virginia
and went to school at Radford University. I graduated with a Bachelor of
Science in Elementary Education with concentrations in English and Special
Education. This year I will be getting my license in Gifted Education, along
with many other staff members at Voyager. I am married and have a lovable and
energetic dog. My husband and I live in Stem, NC and love being a little away
from the excitement of Durham.
My mission as your language arts and social studies teacher is to challange
each and everyone one of you to grow from where you currently are. Each one
of us comes into the room having different knowledge and experiences. By
learning about each other and learning more about ourselves we can grow as
individuals. I am a high energy teacher with lots of hands-on exciting
learning opportunities for this coming year. While learning about the
geography of the United States we will create a 3-D model of the landforms
in different regions. While learning about poetry and how it connects to our
lives we will create a quilt with pictures to show the connections. After
learning about Mexico, Canada, and Central America you will become experts
in that area and create food, clothing, and many other things from that
area. Everyday in our class we will use the technology around us to further
our learning in many topics. I can't wait to get started!
